Mary's House

Hello everyone, I have been working with a classmate on a new project. We were designing an accessible bedroom for Mary's House. Mary's House is a home for single mothers that have been abused and substance abuse. Mary's House is a place so that when they have nowhere else to go. When they get there, there is a substance abuse treatment class so this treatment will help them overcome the addiction and also is a place where they know it is safe to be at, in other words it’s a safe house. The programs offered are designed for persons with mental and substance abuse disorders, pregnant / postpartum women, women, and residential beds for clients' children. What you see above is the design that me and my partner has come up with. We chose a trendal bed so that there is more space because the bedroom is very small for a mother and her child. We also added more storage since there is very little storage.

The three pictures above are the selections that we have chosen. We went with a modern traditional style. We also chose to do a light pale teal on the walls to brighten up the room and make to mother or women feel happy and safe. I really enjoyed designing for Mary's House.
